Each season, we rely on the generous support of Volunteers to make the Festival happen. Volunteering for the Sundance Film Festival is a one-of-a-kind experience! The real benefit of volunteering is being part of a passionate community dedicated to supporting independent storytelling and providing positive experiences for all. As we build this next Festival together in Boulder, Colorado, we can't wait to welcome new faces to the Festival soon! Review the information below to learn more about how to get involved.

BEFORE YOU APPLY:

• Take a moment to review our website (linked here) where you can find our Application and Onboarding Checklist, our Festival Volunteer Catalog, and more information about this year’s application process.
• The 2027 Festival will be held from Thursday, January 21, to Sunday, January 31, 2026, and for the first time in Boulder, Colorado. For more details about how the Festival is taking shape, you can read more at festival.sundance.org 
• Check out our Festival Lodging website linked here to start looking for lodging options that fit your needs. If you’re requesting Festival-provided lodging, keep in mind that this is determined by the role that’s assigned and limited – applicants that are flexible with assignments or have lodging secured may be considered sooner for placement. 

AFTER YOU APPLY:

• You will receive a confirmation email that verifies we have your application. If you do not receive this, check your spam inbox or email us at volunteers@sundance.org. This confirmation email does not guarantee a spot as a volunteer and applicants should wait to hear from a member of the Volunteer Resources Team regarding their placement at the Festival.
• If you need to update any information after you submit your application, including if you need to cancel for the year, feel free to contact us at any time. 

IMPORTANT DEADLINES:

• Managerial Interest Deadline - September 18, 2026: If you are interested in a management or leadership position with increased responsibilities, please apply by this deadline to help us begin locking in our roles early on.
• Cancellation Deadline - December 13, 2026: If you have been confirmed to volunteer, canceling after this deadline may impact your standing with us for future opportunities, on a case-by-case basis. 
• Application Closed - December: We typically close the application in December each season, however, we encourage individuals to send in their application early in order to be considered.
